  1. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. My value and worth are intrinsic. Just like yours.
  2. Self-sabotage and burn-out happens to all of us. Shout out to Africa Brooke! She got me thinking about this yesterday on her Instagram LIVE. Africa is an inspiring and real leader in talking about all things vulnerability. Her words have encouraged me to be braver about my situation and truth. When I am feeling self-sabotage-y I know I just have to allow myself the space to work through it. I know I’ll always find my way because so far… I have!
  3. Unlearning toxic narratives and making a concerted effort to heal takes time. And it’s not linear. Therapy is expensive, but for me, it’s an investment that helps. I try to go when I can afford it. Finding a great therapist is a journey and challenge in and of itself.
  4. I have only been doing this — examining my commitment to whiteness, working to detach from it, and writing about it — for like… a little over one year. So, I’m learning just as much as you all are. And I gotta keep reminding myself of this and be more gentle with myself. This is a lifetime process and overwhelm is natural. The world can be depressing and overwhelming, but it’s also beautiful, rejuvenating, and none of us are alone in our journey.
  5. I’m always going to get a ton of feedback about what I’m doing
